Bioenergy and Aura with Dr. Valerie V. Hunt

Valerie V. Hunt's legacy as a trailblazer in bioenergy research began at UCLA. By scientifically validating the human aura, she linked emotional well-being to energetic patterns, challenging conventional medical paradigms and transforming our understanding of health.

In the 1970s, Valerie V. Hunt, a scientist at the University of California (UCLA), became an Emeritus Professor of Physiological Sciences at this university and developed methods to investigate what she called the human bioenergy field. She was the first to scientifically study how alterations in these energy fields are related to emotional disorders and pathologies.

Valerie V. Hunt: Pioneer in Human Bioenergy Research

82 years ago, at the beginning of World War I in the United States, an eight-year-old girl on an Indiana farm experienced two near-death incidents in quick succession. The trauma left her in an altered state of consciousness for six months, during which she could not eat without help and her family nearly lost hope for her survival.

However, when she regained consciousness, she also regained her health. Over time, she began reading university texts and excelled as a scholar in her field. She taught at Columbia and Iowa Universities and from 1947 at the University of California, where she eventually became an emeritus professor in the Department of Physiological Sciences.

Four Decades Deciphering the Human Aura and Bioenergy

Dr. Valerie Hunt, with a forty-year career, established herself as the world’s leading scientific authority on the study of the human aura, a phenomenon discussed for centuries but never scientifically measured. In the late 1960s, Dr. Hunt began measuring what she calls human bioenergy and discovered that it contains crucial information about a person’s physiological conditions, emotional states and level of consciousness.

Her discovery that the aura exists and harbors significant information overturned her own pre-existing beliefs, especially when it revealed that the aura can provide insights into one of the most controversial and loaded notions in today’s mystical lexicon: past lives.

Many of her consultees are doctors aware that, despite the chemical analyses and treatments available, they still do not know everything about healing diseases. Hunt has written several books, including “Mind Mastery Meditations”, “Infinite Mind: The Science of Human Vibrations”, “Naibu: A Spiritual Universe”, among others.

Dr. Hunt spoke with Don Wood of Magical Blend magazine in her office in Southern California.

How Atomic Interaction Affects Emotional and Physical Health

Bioenergy was generated when the electrical energy of the body’s atoms communicated with that of the outside world, mutually influencing each other.

The key lay in that interaction. For example, if people were placed in a room and electromagnetic energy was eliminated, the body’s energy became uncontrolled, causing significant emotional disturbances.

Individual organs had fields, but the records of these organs were in the lower, magnetic part of the electromagnetic spectrum, not the higher, electric part. The highest frequency recorded for an organ was 150 cycles per second (cps).

The human bioenergetic field began at about 400 cps and could reach up to one million cps. Here is part of an interview that was conducted…

Is bioenergy the same as an aura?

Yes, it’s the same. However, I don’t call it that because there have been so many exaggerations and lies about the aura, so much confusion… but it does exist.

What practical application is there in knowing that the aura exists?

Bioenergy encompasses the entire human being: health, emotions, learning, creativity, whatever you want. It is the field from where all information must first come, before reaching the senses.

In fifty or a hundred years, the basis of all education will be through this field, not just through intellect and senses.

Bioenergy is the frontier of human health. When there are disturbances in this field, they will eventually manifest in the human body. However, fields vary in terms of strength. In a smoker’s field, for example, the stronger the field, the more it can withstand the toxic effects of tobacco.

Bioenergy helps to regenerate limbs; I have seen it myself. Because even when a limb is no longer there, the energy pattern of the field remains for a while.

This is the phenomenon of the so-called “phantom limb.” If the energetic field is still there and one feels it, within the energy pattern tissues will regrow.

Some doctors now say that we might even be able to regrow the heart, so that we won’t need transplants, although we haven’t reached that point yet.

What are the differences in bioenergy from one person to another?

In some I have recorded up to 100,000 cycles per second, which is the highest they can go. Others reach 250,000 cps and still rising, but I would need better instruments to measure them. Some people have an entire range of frequencies and can use any scale they need. That is called health.

When individuals engage in physical activities, they exhibit more low frequencies. Engaging intellectually results in higher mid-range frequencies, while mystical and spiritual activities increase the presence of high frequencies. However, they are not confined to any specific frequency range.

One finds oneself in trouble when stuck in a particular frequency and amplitude scale.

You started your career as a traditional neurophysiologist. How did you feel when you began exploring bioenergy and saw that it changed your view of the world?

As a child, I was a mystic, but I blocked it out, simply because it was too difficult. The world was not ready for my intuition and insights, nor for the fact that I dared to see other things.

As a neurophysiologist, I had been trained with standard procedures and I knew everything there was to know about the brain and muscles.

We thought we knew everything. Then I met an aura healer who helped bring a polio-afflicted muscle back to life, something that, at the time, I believed was impossible; this was about thirty years ago.

I was truly shocked when I encountered rolfing and witnessed changes in performance that I could not describe physiologically.

Later, I studied dancers who went into a trance and discovered something I had never seen before: an energy field.

It was at the first acupuncture conference at Stanford University that I first realized that it was probably this energy field that I was exploring. Intellectually, I went through a great internal struggle to be able to say that while physiology and neurology are very important, they are not the answer.

What did they tell you at the University of California about this?

They called me and asked, “What do you do in your laboratory?” I replied, “I work at the frontier of human knowledge and I want you to protect me.” And they did, always.

What is the future of bioenergy? How can science continue to develop this discovery?

We need to do three things. First, establish a data bank of people’s energy fields as they grow, from childhood to adulthood.

Second, we must take an inventory of the energy fields of diseases—that is, we need to study what happens to the field when people are treated with hands-on healing, Tai Chi, electrical devices, etc.

Third, we must study the fields of the person involved in the treatment.

After all that, finally, we will be able to do what medicine has never been able to do, namely, say: Here is the best treatment and the best medical care for this person with this disease, based on all the energies involved.

It will be highly specific and there is nothing in medicine today that goes this far.

Prayer with the bioenergetic field

A work by Dr. Larry Dossey claims that the use of prayer as medicine is very promising. How does prayer relate to the bioenergetic field?

Prayer causes the sick person’s body to enter higher vibration levels, making their field more powerful and coherent.

If it is precisely identified where the prayer energy is directed and the person’s field is receptive to this kind of energy, at a certain level there will be an instant healing.

The prayer of one person cannot be compared at all to that of an entire church or to group therapy. When you have an entire church praying, you will have higher frequencies and greater amplitude. It’s the same difference that exists between a small windstorm and a major hurricane.

All information resides in the field. The mind can decipher it just as a television decodes audiovisual signals. It stands as the greatest decoder in the world, provided we allow it to function without muddling it with our emotional clutter.

A crucial discovery about the origin of anti-coherence in fields is its relation to emotions. These feelings organize the field, causing destructive and dissociative emotions to shape it destructively.

The field is information

Isn’t this a big leap, coming from the more scientific work you do?

No, it isn’t. What I am saying is that when a person’s fields are coherent and their spectrum is complete, they have the capacity to comprehend information that does not come from the senses.

The information comes from the field and the field is information. It is a higher sense than the brain. And if a person reaches that stage firmly, they can do exactly what I do.

What is the main message of your book Mind Mastery Meditations?

Most meditation books are there to make life a little easier or to relieve us from pain. This book is not like that. This book states: If you own your mind, you can change things and reach your highest potential. It teaches this step by step.

Do societies or certain periods of human history, also have their characteristic fields?

Yes. Fields are related to the way people in certain cultures handle their emotions. In our culture, most fields are very repressed, because we are not very free emotionally.

There are cultures that flow with their environment much better than ours, like Eastern or South Pacific cultures. They do not achieve what we achieve because they do not have the full spectrum, but they do have higher vibrations and we need that.

Although the aggressiveness of industrialized cultures is important, we have exaggerated it and taken it too far. But we are changing. I can see it when I test the fields of people, as now fewer people are needed to create a full spectrum. I believe we are living in a great moment.
